UN-Business Nutrition Partnership Forum in Rome
Germany's Permanent Mission to FAO hosted an UN-Business Partnership Dialogue on Nutrition in the International Fund for Agriculture and Development (IFAD) in Rome. Moderated by the upcoming SUN Coordinator Assistant Secretary General Gerda Verburg some 70 participants - including several ambassadors -discussed complementary strategies and good practices from school feeding, food-fortification to agricultural interventions geared towards ending hunger and malnutrition. BASF’s technical support for small scale millers fortifying edible oil with Vitamin A delivered with GIZ in Tanzania was well received.

BASF Food-Fortification supports Ebola response of German Doctors in West Africa
As of December 11, 2014, German Doctors and BASF agreed on collaborating in fighting back Ebola in Sierra Leone as part of a broader programm supported by the German Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The partners will provide at pilot scale nutrient sachets to undernutrished rural populations via Serabu hospital in Sierra Leone adminstrated by German Doctors. BASF will in addition suport the hospital with the state-of-the-art affordable, rapid test kits for accurate vitamin analytics. It is expected, that the provision of the nutrient sachets containing 15 essential micronutrients from Vitamin A to zinc help to improve the nutritional status and thereby contribute to strengthen the immune systems of vulnerable populations, in particular mothers and their children.
